2025 Fashion Forecast: Is Sustainability the Next Big Trend?

2024 was a big year for fashion, personally I feel like many more people are becoming fashion conscious. Fashion is taking over as an industry, obviously fashion as a whole is huge but I feel it's everywhere now, even in Columbia, SC. The trends I saw last year were sparkles, denim, trenchcoats, ballet flats (iykyk), and micro shorts. These were the biggest trends for the past year and I see a lot of them carrying into this year. Denim is huge in general but last year and going forward the canadian tuxedo is the “It girl” look. Micro shorts took over, surprisingly even in the winter with some tights. These trends set the tone for 2025 and I think as a whole fashion is starting to get weird again- in a good way. Textures and structure are being incorporated more this year.

Paris fashion week was full of illusions and structure, at Schiaparelli spring show Kendall Jenner walked the runway in fully structured dress. I think fashion is moving back into this kind of weird, impression seeking thing. Following that I think seeing more boho chic; however, in more of an Isabel Marant way than 2013 Coachella. Fashion and style this year is going to be more personal and less trendy. As we grow up and grow into ourselves our style will grow with us and finding yourself and finding a style that fits your person will be the biggest trend this year. As consumers and fashion enthusiasts it's so easy to get caught up in trends and forget what makes you feel good. Fashion is all about being yourself and I think that's the most important part.

With these trends sustainability will be in consideration, I believe as many of us want the answer to be yes its no. Sustainability is not super important to many consumers. The goal is to move to a circular economy; however, it's hard to do so when many brands and consumers aren't on board. Shein and Zara produce at insane rates and consumers keep up with them. Following trends is fun but the environment is more important. As we go into 2025 the climate crisis is becoming more and more visible each day. It's important as a consumer to evaluate how you shop and if you can be more mindful. Faded Lace has your back and can help you be more sustainable and mindful. We want to help you hang up on fast fashion and dial in on sustainability.
